Opabinia is a member of the Burgess Shale fauna discovered in the Middle Cambrian strata of Canada, characterized by its five eyes on its head and long tentacles resembling an elephant's nose. The body consists of 15 segments, each with a fin on either side, and it is thought that they could swim with these fins rippling. Some believe that it is closely related to Anomalocaris because of its similarities with Anomalocaris, such as feeding with its left and right fins and tentacles. There is an anecdote that when it was first presented at an academic conference, the hall was filled with laughter because of its strange appearance.
An artist of reconstructed models of dinosaurs and other paleontological creatures, aiming to create works that combine academic research with the appeal of three-dimensional objects.
