The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is located in Nagao Mountain General Park (Katsuyama Dinosaur Forest) in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture. As befits Fukui Prefecture, one of Japan's leading dinosaur fossil excavation sites, it is a natural history museum with dinosaurs as its main theme. The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Canada, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum in China, and the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum in Japan are said to be the three greatest dinosaur museums in the world. You can feel the breath of ancient times from the fossils you can actually touch, the video presentations, and the elaborate dioramas. Of course, Japanese dinosaurs excavated in Fukui are also on display, allowing children and adults alike to enjoy dinosaurs.
