Thank you for the many entries to the 17th "Paint the Dinosaur" painting contest, where you freely paint and complete your original dinosaur with your own hands.

 

This time, in addition to entries from products, we also received many entries from the mini paint kits distributed at workshops held at dinosaur exhibitions and other events. Comments included fond memories of dinosaur exhibitions and workshops, and it was clear to see the joy everyone had in painting. My friend gave it to me at the dinosaur museum in Gunma, and I painted it. I returned to my childhood and really got into painting freely.

Reading the comment, I could sense the joy of the gift and how it brought back childhood memories. I was also impressed by the careful painting. At first glance, the pattern is unusual, but the more you look at it, the more captivating it becomes, highlighting the Stegosaurus with its unique individuality. It truly expresses "adults becoming children, and children becoming adults."

We bought this on the way home from visiting the "Jurassic Great Dinosaur Exhibition" at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts with our family.
The day after enjoying the event, we painted it with our child. It was a great memory and experience for the last day of the Obon holidays!!

This is a work by a 2-year-old. We appreciated that all five figures were painted and the concept of expressing strength through color. The carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs are clearly separated by color.

Horn Dance
Little brother: "Look! The rhino is dancing!!"
Big brother: "What are you talking about? That's a dinosaur! It's called a Triceratops. It's awesome."
Father: "You guys are silly. It's New Year's Day today. That's definitely a shishimai (lion dance)."

Staff Comments

A "Horn Dance" instead of a shishimai. It's a piece that makes you smile, including the comment. The details, such as the sandals and arabesque patterns, are also recreated, making for a seamless finish.

I made the moss on the Ankylosaurus's back sparkly with crushed shells. I thought it would be fun and dreamy to have a colorful dinosaur like a jewel box, so I made it.

The idea of decorating the Ankylosaurus's back is wonderful. As the comment says, it's a stylish Ankylosaurus with a very fun atmosphere.

Taka -san

 

To make the main green look natural, I added light green between the yellow on the belly and the green. Also, I heard that the plates on its back were used for display, so I made them a prominent red. Finally, I painted the whole thing brown, which I think made it look natural.

Ikkun -san

 

My 3-year-old son painted this for the first time! He was swirling different colors of paint into each other, and as an adult, I thought, "That's not right!" (lol). But then I saw him scooping up and painting with the beautiful marble patterns he created by mixing paints, and I was genuinely impressed. I wanted to submit this to show off his beautiful marble dinosaur.

The marble pattern mentioned in the comment makes this Brachiosaurus stand out beautifully.The child's free imagination shines through. Perhaps dinosaurs truly had such camouflage-like colors, resembling the marble patterns.

Since we don't know the colors of dinosaurs, I thought it would be fun to have a colorful Spinosaurus. Yellow is my favorite color, so painting was enjoyable.

This work expresses the joy of imagining dinosaur colors directly. The dark reds and blues serve as excellent accents within the soft atmosphere. The complex colors created by the beautiful blending of hues are also a plus!
