"Dinosaur Paint Model" 18th Paint Contest Results Announcement

The Dinosaur Paint Model allows you to paint with free ideas to create your own original dinosaur. This was the first contest using the new paint model, and we received many entries from everyone. Thank you very much.

This time, there were many entries from parents and children who challenged themselves to paint, as well as entries from girls, not just boys. In addition to popular Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops works, there were also many Giganotosaurus and Mosasaurus works that appeared in this summer's movie, making us realize the diverse popularity of dinosaurs once again.

Now, we will announce the winning entries selected by the Favorite staff from among the many submissions!

I dyed a unique-looking Stegosaurus in a flashy tie-dye pattern! My particular focus was on the gradation from warm to cool colors on the back, which is the Stegosaurus's most prominent feature. Since there is a theory that these plates regulated body temperature, I represented temperature changes with colors. The glitter is also a key point to enhance the flashiness!

Staff Comments

A work that expresses changes in body temperature with a tie-dye pattern, as if viewed with a thermography camera.
We evaluated the seamless painting of surface temperature changes as a pattern.
It's a work that also matches well with the sandy beach in the background.

My 6-year-old son, who loves dinosaurs, made this with his dad!

Staff Comments

This is a work that a parent and child challenged to paint together. The carnivorous dinosaur-like expression around the mouth and the painted base result in a powerful Giganotosaurus.

I went to a dinosaur exhibition and art show. My older sister enjoyed it more than my dinosaur-loving younger brother, and she bought this Tyrannosaurus to take home. She colored it diligently and carefully.

Staff Comments

The Tyrannosaurus, painted in bright colors, gives a pop and cute impression. The sight of it looking down on the mini model Tyrannosaurus is very impressive.

My dinosaur-loving son and I went to the Fukui Dinosaur Museum on our summer trip, and we brought back a Triceratops as a souvenir. He considered using realistic colors while looking at an encyclopedia, but he seems to have decided to combine his favorite blue with camouflage. As a collaborative work with his beloved grandpa, he had "asa" hidden on the left side of the body and "to" on the right side, giving it originality.

Staff Comments

This is an interesting work painted with free ideas, typical of a paint model. The patterns expressed by the alphabet are also well represented.

This is my second work, following the Tyrannosaurus.
For this second piece, I wanted to create a scene, so I made it with a box I had at home.
The other side of the Spinosaurus in the photo had completely opposite colors, and as a child, I struggled with which one to submit.
It was a very good experience.
Thank you very much!
If I have time again, I will challenge myself with Mosasaurus.

Staff Comments

The coloring of the Spinosaurus is a masterpiece that matches the background well. We would love to see the other side, which you struggled with.

Mr. Araki's prototype is meticulously detailed. The expression of the tongue, referred to as the Jacobson's organ in the oral cavity, is particularly amazing. Its presence reinforces the realism that the Mosasaurus is a reptile, not a dinosaur. It's a model that you never get tired of looking at. This time, I created a diorama base with the setting of the shallow seabed of East Asia. Also, it has ball joints, so the angle can be freely changed.

Staff Comments

A powerful Mosasaurus work, including the diorama base. The idea of being able to change the angle with ball joints is excellent.

I love pandas too, so
I made its face like a panda.
Since pandas eat bamboo,
I made its face the green color of grass.
For its body, I used colors that looked real,
and since I like stars and hearts, I drew them.

Staff Comments

This is a wonderful work where favorite things are painted on a Triceratops.
The stars and heart patterns painted on the realistic body act as accents, creating a gentle finish.

I painted this with my dad. The Pteranodon and Quetzalcoatlus are flying together happily in the vast sky.

Staff Comments

These pterosaurs, painted by a parent and child, seem to be flying together as a family, despite being different species.
The way the patterns are applied and the colors are divided conveys that they thought about it together when painting.

My first-grade daughter recently became interested in dinosaurs due to the influence of her dinosaur-loving younger brother (kindergarten, middle year).
My daughter wanted cute dinosaur goods, so she used her favorite pink and purple colors, and painted the spikes on its back to resemble flowers.
She seems satisfied with her cute dinosaur.
Next, she is eager to paint a rainbow or make it even cuter with more pink.

Staff Comments

A Stegosaurus painted in cute colors. The bright colors and borders on its back plates create a nice accent.

Thank you for your many entries.
