This year, with the release of the latest Jurassic World movie, there were many entries featuring dinosaurs from the film. We received many applications from young children to adults, and our staff thoroughly enjoyed the judging process.
We hope that painting can be an opportunity to foster a spirit of inquiry and curiosity.

Grand Prize

Hayashikawa-san

I painted the Diplodocus referencing a zebra pattern.
If you look closely at the white parts, I felt like there were hints of blue, pink, and green within the white, so adding those subtle colors was my specific focus.
It was fun seeing it turn out just as I imagined.

Staff Comments

The zebra pattern is skillfully incorporated into the Diplodocus's form. As a herbivorous dinosaur, it might have had stripes for camouflage, similar to zebras. We also appreciated that the head's different color meant it wasn't a mere copy of a zebra. The photo is also cleverly taken to blend in with plants. This work sparks imagination. We'd love to see more animal color series!

My son recently became fond of Mosasaurus. We painted the base red together, and he said, 'I'll make this part black!' and 'This part green!' He painted the other parts as he liked, and both he and I were very satisfied! He had a lot of fun painting! Thank you for the wonderful product!

Staff Comments

This piece was completed by a parent and child having fun painting together. Although it may seem random at first glance, the overall color separation is well done, and you can sense the back-and-forth conversation and trial-and-error. The vibrant green and red base colors create irregular patterns, while black tightens up the overall look.

“Space Swimming”

The aquatic dinosaur Spinosaurus went for a swim in space 🌎

～Key points～
・Drawing various planets around the sun on its back spines
・Adding a rainbow color for an aurora-like space pattern
・Drawing shooting stars on the base

It was fun coloring my favorite dinosaur freely!

Staff Comments

This piece replaces the concept of "swimming" from "underwater" to "space."
The arrangement of planets, a key detail, looks立体 and is wonderful. This is a powerful work where the charm of space is infused into the Spinosaurus!

 

Tanba Q-san

As the temperatures get hotter each year, I painted it with a cool blue base. I think it turned out to have a solid, heavy feel, befitting a sauropod.

Staff Comments

The refreshing blue color gives it a wonderfully cool appearance. While the color has a light impression, the upward-looking angle perfectly conveys the imposing weight of the large sauropod Brachiosaurus. Despite the unique idea behind the coloring, it’s a realistic piece that looks like it stepped right out of an encyclopedia.

I think I did a great job!

This piece is painted in a monochromatic color scheme. The shades of color create depth and convey the fierce power of the Mosasaurus. It brings to mind a scene where it's leaping from the water towards its prey at the waterline.

I paid special attention to the blue-green color on its back and tail.

The coloring, reminiscent of a reptile, shows careful observation of existing creatures and meticulous painting. This Mosasaurus is simple yet packed with unique details.

 

Yuzukiosaurus-san

I started by painting it all green, but gradually my interest in colors deepened, and as I freely layered various colors, I became fascinated by the interesting results of chance. Diverse colors, such as vibrant blues, deep reds, and soft yellows, overlapped to create a gentle and expansive Brachiosaurus. I feel like I was able to express my own form of life through color.

This is an artistic piece with multiple layers of color. The colors and patterns born from chance express both strength and gentleness. This Brachiosaurus possesses an aurora-like beauty.

DAICHO-san

This year, I'm going to be a human anatomical model for the Halloween party! Pay attention to the realistic details!

Staff Comments

A painted piece where the entire body is transparent, revealing the anatomical structure. Not just the skeleton, but even the organs are depicted. The bright colors prevent it from looking grotesque, which is a key point. Is the T-Rex in the background a friend?

 

Sho-Boh-san

I painted the Mosasaurus souvenir I bought at the Fukui Dinosaur Museum in 2024, utilizing my military model painting skills.
I used an airbrush for gradient painting, followed by dry brushing, and finished it with blue-toned weathering paint.
The inside of the mouth was also realistically sculpted, so I painted it to look gruesome.
This was my first attempt at realistic painting, and I was able to paint it as I envisioned, so I decided to submit it.

The base coloring is simple and understated, but the meticulously painted teeth, interior of the mouth, and back spines stand out, resulting in a highly finished piece.

A Tyrannosaurus that landed on the moon.

Staff Comments

Countless stars and planets are meticulously painted on the Tyrannosaurus. The yellow stars provide a nice accent. The background illustration and nebula-like effect are also superb. This is a piece born from the free imagination unique to paint models.

 

Mii-san

I imagined excavated dinosaur fossils holding a meeting! I took photos on the beach in the early morning!! I think the eerie clouds add character.

Staff Comments

The skeletons of each dinosaur are meticulously rendered. Despite being monochrome, it's a unique and impressive painting. What are the excavated dinosaurs doing together? Paint models truly spark the imagination.

 

Mamemoyashi-san

I finished the dinosaurs with colorful and pop fruit motifs. I hope everyone enjoys the juicy feel of these five Fruit-saurus gathered in a tropical jungle!

These dinosaurs with their fruit-inspired colors are quite interesting. If they're colorful, they're not scary, right!? Lured by the delicious scent... you might get eaten if you're not careful!
