Collectible Dinosaur Figures Made with Soft Material
A PVC figure of Therizinosaurus, a large dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous. It is known for the enormous claws on its forelimbs, whose function remained a mystery for many years. Its collectible size makes it enjoyable both for play and display.

Classification: Saurischia/Theropoda/Therizinosauridae
Size: Total length9~10meters
Period: Late Cretaceous
A large dinosaur from Late Cretaceous Asia, best known for the enormous claws on its forelimbs. When it was first discovered, few bones other than the claws were known, and its appearance remained a mystery for many years. The discovery of fossils of the related Alxasaurus later helped clarify its anatomy. Because its skull, which would reveal its diet, remains poorly known, hypotheses have included herbivory, fish-eating, and omnivory. Its arms could spread outward like a bird’s wings, although the reason for this adaptation remains unclear. The first toe on the inner side of each hind foot was also distinctive.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Therizinosaurus, which played a major role in this summer’s film, has joined the Soft Model series. Mr. Araki, what are your impressions of Therizinosaurus?
- Therizinosaurus
- Therizinosaurus remained mysterious for many years. Were there any particular challenges when sculpting it for the Soft Model series?
- Thanks to the discovery of well-preserved fossils of related therizinosaurs, we now have a much clearer idea of its appearance. When I sculpted a Therizinosaurus for a model magazine more than 20 years ago, I gave it scaly skin. Today, many reconstructions show it covered in feathers, so I represented feathers on parts of this model as well.
- What kind of image did you have in mind when sculpting the poses and bases?
- Therizinosaurus
- Therizinosaurus
- As with the other Soft Models, I took care to choose a paint pattern that would not overlap too much with the rest of the lineup.
Therizinosaurus
In an earlier model, I depicted it catching fish by spearing them with its long claws, so I chose a color scheme that suggests a habitat near water. - Finally,Therizinosaurus About the Soft ModelPlease share your comments.。
- Therizinosaurus became a household name after appearing in Jurassic World Dominion. In the film, it used its long, sharp claws like knives, almost like an assassin. But what kind of dinosaur was it really, and what were those claws used for? One hypothesis suggests it used them to break open termite mounds, much like a modern giant anteater.
Besides playing with the figure, it can be fun to pick it up and wonder, “What were those long claws actually used for?”
