The Anomalocaris Soft Model has been renewed
A PVC figure of Anomalocaris, a dominant predator of prehistoric seas, recognized by its large, distinctive appendages and the flaps along its body. Its collectible size makes it enjoyable both for play and display.

Anomalocaris

Classification: Family Anomalocarididae / Genus Anomalocaris / Species Anomalocaris canadensis
Size: Body length approx. 60 centimeters
Period: Paleozoic, Cambrian

This figure depicts Anomalocaris canadensis, the best-known species in the genus, swimming with 13 pairs of lateral flaps along its body. Anomalocaris is thought to have been a dominant predator in prehistoric seas, preying on animals such as trilobites. It also had excellent vision, an important adaptation for a predator. However, some researchers suggest that its mouthparts were not strong enough to crush hard prey. Interpretations of its mouth structure and swimming method continue to be discussed.
