Playable Figure Made of Soft, Durable Material
A Vinyl Model of Therizinosaurus, a large dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous. It is known for the enormous claws on its forelimbs, whose function remained a mystery for many years. Made from child-friendly materials, it can be enjoyed safely in the living room or a child’s room.
* Some parts are made slightly harder to allow the figure to stand on its own and to reproduce fine details.
TherizinosaurusTherizinosaurus
Classification: Saurischia/Theropoda/Therizinosauridae
Size: Total length9~10meters
Period: Late Cretaceous
A large dinosaur from Late Cretaceous Asia, best known for the enormous claws on its forelimbs. When it was first discovered, few bones other than the claws were known, and its appearance remained a mystery for many years. The discovery of fossils of the related Alxasaurus later helped clarify its anatomy. Because its skull, which would reveal its diet, remains poorly known, hypotheses have included herbivory, fish-eating, and omnivory. Its arms could spread outward like a bird’s wings, although the reason for this adaptation remains unclear. The first toe on the inner side of each hind foot was also distinctive.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Therizinosaurus, which played a major role in Jurassic World Dominion, has joined the Vinyl Model series. What are your impressions of this dinosaur, which has become more widely known in recent years?
- In the film, it emerged from a swamp and was portrayed as a powerful dinosaur capable of defeating even Giganotosaurus with its long, sharp claws (laughs).
Therizinosaurus has a very unusual appearance and may not look as conventionally cool as Tyrannosaurus or Triceratops, but its long, sharp foreclaws—unlike those of any other dinosaur—are a major part of its appeal, as the film showed. - Therizinosaurus remained mysterious for many years. Were there any particular challenges when sculpting it for the Soft Model series?
- Unlike in the past, when Therizinosaurus was a mysterious dinosaur, many reconstructions and models are now available. I refined the design to fit Favorite’s series.
Many reconstructions show the whole body covered in feathers, but I deliberately left some scaly skin visible in the sculpt.
The Soft Model uses a support to keep the figure in its forward-leaning pose, whereas the Vinyl Model maintains its posture by resting its forelimbs on the ground. - Therizinosaurus
- Unlike the Soft Model, this version uses warm colors and has the appearance of a large, feathered bird. It probably was not strong enough to defeat Giganotosaurus, but it has the feel of a huge, unruly bird.
- Finally,Therizinosaurus About the Vinyl ModelPlease share your comments.。
- As mentioned earlier, Therizinosaurus was not particularly well known, but the film has increased its recognition. Try staging a battle between the Vinyl Model and Giganotosaurus, just like in the movie, and see which one wins at home!
