One of Favorite's Largest Playable Figures Made of Soft Material
A Premium Allosaurus figure over 50 cm long, newly added to the Vinyl Model series. Made from safe materials that are gentle for small children to touch, it can be played with safely in the living room or children’s room.
* Some parts are made slightly harder to allow the figure to stand on its own and to reproduce fine details.
Allosaurus
Classification: Saurischia/Theropoda/Allosauridae
Size: Total length 9–14 meters
Period: Late Jurassic
One of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic. In North America alone, fossils representing at least 60 individuals, from juveniles to adults, have been discovered. Its distinctive features include brow ridges above the eyes, a large head over 1 meter long, powerful hind legs, and well-developed forelimbs. Its large head and long, straight, massive tail helped maintain balance.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Allosaurus has joined Favorite’s Premium Edition series, featuring some of the largest figures in the company’s history. What was the concept behind the master sculpt?
- The concept is similar to that of the Feathered Tyrannosaurus, but I actually referenced the poses of Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus in the 1966 film One Million Years B.C. The pose has both arms held close to the body and the neck arched backward just before attacking prey.
- Besides its size, how does this model differ from the Allosaurus already in the standard Vinyl Model lineup?
- The main difference is the pose, which is more dynamic than the standard model. It was a challenging pose to produce, but the tooling and production teams worked hard to make it possible.
- Were there any particular points you paid attention to when creating such a large Allosaurus?
- Because of the manufacturing constraints of Vinyl Models, I took care not to lose Allosaurus’s fierce, streamlined appearance or the length of its tail.
- The coloring has a green, reptilian feel. Did you reference any living animals?
- I personally like Allosaurus in orange tones, which is why that color appears often in the Favorite lineup, but this time I used green tones inspired by living reptiles and amphibians. I think it turned out very well.
- Finally, do you have any comments on the Allosaurus Vinyl Model Premium Edition?
- If Tyrannosaurus was the king of the Cretaceous, Allosaurus was the king of the Jurassic. Allosaurus individuals nearly as large as Tyrannosaurus also lived. Bring the dream battle between Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus to life at home!
