Collectible Dinosaur Figures Made with Soft Material
A PVC figure of Giganotosaurus, a dominant predator of Late Cretaceous South America. Discovered relatively recently, it is especially popular with younger dinosaur fans. Its collectible size makes it enjoyable both for play and display.

Giganotosaurus was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived in South America during the Late Cretaceous. Its fossils were first discovered in 1993, making it a relatively recently identified dinosaur. Its skull alone measured about 1.8 m. Although it was larger than Tyrannosaurus, its body was relatively slender, and its bite may not have been powerful enough to crush bone. Fossils of several individuals have been found together, leading to the suggestion that it hunted in groups and may have preyed on large sauropods such as Argentinosaurus.

- Giganotosaurus, the largest carnivorous dinosaur of South America, has joined the Soft Model series. What are your impressions of Giganotosaurus?
- For dinosaur fans of my generation, Giganotosaurus is a relatively new discovery that we learned about later in life. I used to imagine South American sauropods such as Saltasaurus and Amargasaurus surviving into the Cretaceous with unusual body forms, and Giganotosaurus as their characteristic predator. Younger dinosaur fans are already very familiar with it, and it seems to have many fans.

- At first glance, this large carnivorous dinosaur resembles Tyrannosaurus, but South American predators such as Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus have distinctive teeth arranged like a saw. Their skulls are also large, sharp, and striking, so I emphasized these features.
- What kind of image did you have in mind when sculpting the poses and bases?
- I avoided an overly unusual pose, but positioned the hands facing forward to suggest the animal threatening prey or an opponent in front of it.
The base is the same as usual: sandy ground scattered with rocks. Sorry for repeating the same setting (laughs). - Were there any particular considerations behind the overall paintwork of the Giganotosaurus Soft Model?
- As always, I chose a color and pattern combination that would not overlap too much with other models in the series. Giganotosaurus has distinctive features in the shape of its skull, including the large antorbital fenestra and raised areas, so I added small accents of color to highlight them.

- Giganotosaurus is a large carnivorous dinosaur from South America. It would be fun to stage a dream battle with Tyrannosaurus, the ruler of North America. I would also love to add South American herbivorous dinosaurs to the lineup. There are rumors that Giganotosaurus may appear in the latest Jurassic World film, so its popularity may grow even more.
