Vol.42 Playing fighting games with dinosaur action figures
When I hear the term "action figure," the first thing that comes to mind are character dolls from movies like Star Wars. However, Wikipedia defines them as "any figure with movable joints (in the narrow sense, humanoid figures)," and cites G.I. Joe as the original. Dinosaur figures that fit this definition are almost nonexistent. While "Jurassic Park," Disney's "Dinosaur," and more recently "King Kong" dinosaur figures all feature various gimmicks, their limbs only move at the base. Even the "Dinosaur King" figures, released as action figures, have no joint movement whatsoever; in fact, parts that shouldn't move at all are articulated. While writing this, I again felt indignant, thinking that even for children, they really cut corners.
Amidst all this, the "ACTION FIGURE DINOSAURS" series by CARNAGE (TOYSMITH), which I'm introducing today, is, to my knowledge, the only one that can truly be called a dinosaur action figure.
There are 8 types in total, but the bodies for Velociraptor and Deinonychus, T-Rex and Giganotosaurus, and the three horned dinosaurs are all shared (this is typical for toys). For some reason, the carnivorous dinosaurs are far better made and have many movable parts, making them more enjoyable. Representing the series, let's have Velociraptor, Protoceratops, T-Rex, and Triceratops engage in a bloody struggle.
