Thank you to everyone who submitted their Instagram posts for the 16th "Paint the Dinosaur" contest, where you imagine the world of dinosaurs and create your own unique styles.

 

Since this was the first time the contest was held on Instagram, we received a wider range of submissions compared to previous years, and many entries from parents and children who used their increased time at home creatively.

The other day, I saw my son painting and felt like doing it myself🙄🎨
So I tried painting too!

My theme was "Dressing up for a party🎉"
I wanted to make this Brachio look like he'd stepped right out of a picture book✨

At first, I painted his outfit in a beige color, but then I thought gray would suit him better!
And...
I painted a bow tie, but then I thought it might be cuter if I actually attached a ribbon🎀
And...
Once I started focusing on details, I couldn't stop🤣💦
I tried many times, repainting and experimenting💫

And there are two special highlights🌟🌟
My son also loves insects, so I wanted to add an insect...🤔
The first thing that came to mind was a Meganeura!
I attached it to his rear🍑
The other highlight is the leaves🍃 on his feet that got stuck when he was walking.

I truly felt like an #adult_acting_like_a_child!
It was so much fun, I want to paint with my son again✨

My 4-year-old son single-handedly painted his beloved Spinosaurus.
(My husband bought him a Paint the Dinosaur series at the National Museum of Nature and Science).

He seemed to have a lot of fun, and now he's been saying since this morning that he wants a T-Rex, so I'm off on a quest to find one.

My 4-year-old boy passionately explained, "I made the base color a mossy green, and since it eats all sorts of fish, I made various colors appear on its body." LOL

I painted this to enter the Paint the Dinosaur contest (^_^)

I've had this figure for years, but I was hesitant to paint it for fear of messing it up, so this was a good opportunity.

I tried my best with masking and other techniques to create a cute, colorful, and pop finish with pastel colors.

I guessed that the color of the plates was actually pink...

It was a lot of fun, and now I want to try painting realistic ones and various other patterns.

Incorporating memories of tie-dyeing that my family and I did at home into the Ankylosaurus.

Just like my son's Brachiosaurus, it glows in the dark.
The armor's toughness is highlighted even in the dark through color differentiation.

Painting while observing the arrangement of spikes around the face and the texture of the sides of the body leads to new discoveries that you wouldn't notice in an encyclopedia.

Camouflage Triceratops!
I worked hard to make each camouflage pattern into the silhouette of a dinosaur (Stegosaurus, Pteranodon, Brachiosaurus)😁
(Even though I'm not good at drawing... haha)

At first glance, it looks like an ordinary camouflage pattern, but upon closer inspection, each pattern is actually a dinosaur silhouette, creating an interesting color scheme. It pairs well with camouflage and suits the sturdy Triceratops.

"Fire Spinosaurus"

This is my second son's original Spinosaurus, with a fan-like structure on its back burning with flames.

My 4-year-old second son painted this in the car on the way back from a 6-hour drive from Saitama to the Fukui Dinosaur Museum, saying, "I can't wait until we get home."

According to my second son, it's a very strong Spinosaurus. He enjoyed painting it even while we were traveling in the car.
