Playable Figure Over 60 cm Long, Made of Soft, Durable Material
A Vinyl Model of Diplodocus, a large herbivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Jurassic. Made from child-friendly materials, it can be enjoyed safely in the living room or a child’s room.
Diplodocus
Classification: Saurischia / Sauropodomorpha / Diplodocidae
Size: Total length25〜30meters
Period: Late Jurassic
A large herbivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Jurassic. Compared with other sauropods, it had shorter forelimbs and held its neck and head closer to the ground. It may have fed not only on tall vegetation but also on low-growing plants, filtering them through comb-like teeth at the front of its mouth. Its tail made up more than half its body length and contained as many as 80 vertebrae; it may have swung the tail like a whip to defend itself from carnivorous dinosaurs.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Diplodocus, known for its long, whip-like tail, has joined the Vinyl Model series. Mr. Araki, what are your impressions of Diplodocus?
- Diplodocus is the second sauropod in the Vinyl Model series after Brachiosaurus. I love sauropods, so I am delighted to see it in the lineup. For my generation, Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, and Apatosaurus (Brontosaurus) were the three iconic sauropods.
- You sculpted the Diplodocus model. What story or ideas informed the sculpture, and what were the main challenges, highlights, or details you would like people to notice?
- The long neck, thick body, and long tail make Diplodocus a quintessential dinosaur. I am delighted to see it join the Vinyl Model series. I heard that the very slender, whip-like tail was a challenge to manufacture, but I think it has been sculpted successfully.
- The Diplodocus Vinyl Model has a striking red-based color scheme, quite different from the Brachiosaurus Vinyl Model. What image or concept inspired this choice?
- The colors may seem unusual, but I am proud that this Diplodocus has a look unlike previous models. The color scheme may also remind people that dinosaurs were part of the reptile lineage.
- Finally,DiplodocusAbout the Vinyl ModelPlease share your comments.。
- There are not many figures of Diplodocus this large, and because this is a Vinyl Model, it can withstand plenty of play. Imagine using its tail like a whip to battle carnivorous dinosaurs!
