A large dinosaur plush that's more than just "cute"
This Tyrannosaurus Rex plush is over 60cm tall, an enlarged version of the regular-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex stuffed model, with detailed parts such as teeth and forelimbs. It can stand on two feet, making it a big model with an impressive presence, whether displayed or played with.
TyrannosaurusTyrannosaurus
Classification: Saurischia/Theropoda/Tyrannosauridae
Size: 12-14 meters in length
Period: Late Cretaceous
One of the most popular dinosaurs, and one of the largest terrestrial carnivores ever. Its lower jaw was enormous compared to other theropods, and its biting force was incredibly powerful. Its teeth had characteristic serrations, a structure well-suited for tearing flesh from its prey. Although its forelimbs were underdeveloped with only two fingers and appeared weak, they were strong enough to hold down prey.
Interview with Supervisor Hirokazu Tokugawa
- The Tyrannosaurus, which was released as the first in the series, is now available as a "Premium Edition" with an enlarged scale. First, please tell us your overall impression of the completed Premium Edition.
- It's interesting how, at this size, even a plush toy can have a sense of weight. Tyrannosaurus is a large carnivorous dinosaur, so a weighty appearance suits it.
- The Premium Edition is larger than the regular-sized product, so I imagine it has more impact and presence. As the design supervisor, please tell us about the differences from the regular-sized Tyrannosaurus and any new highlights.
- When the size increases, there are fewer design constraints for a plush toy. So, we considered whether to aim for a more realistic proportion, which was difficult with the regular-sized product. During our discussions with the Favorite team, there was an opinion that "the existing regular-sized product already expresses the characteristics of Favorite's plush toys." If that's the case, we decided it would be better to adapt the regular-sized product's design to the larger size without significantly changing the concept. We adjusted expressions that were not possible with the regular-sized product, such as the subtle curves of the mouth and neck, to create the Premium Edition design. As a result, I believe it has turned out closer to the very first illustration of a Tyrannosaurus I drew for a plush toy design.
- Finally, please give a message to those who will pick up this Premium Edition.
- For regular-sized products, you might immediately think of playing with them nearby, or for mini mascots, attaching them to your bag and taking them out. But what kind of enjoyment will a large size like the Premium Edition bring? I think the unique charm of a plush toy is that it's so big, yet durable, and you can enjoy touching it casually. I hope everyone finds their own way to enjoy it.
