Playable Figure Made of Soft, Durable Material
A Vinyl Model of Parasaurolophus, distinguished by the long crest that curves backward from its head. Made from child-friendly materials, it can be enjoyed safely in the living room or a child’s room.
Parasaurolophus Parasaurolophus
Classification: Ornithischia / Ornithopoda / Hadrosauridae
Size: Total length10meters
Period: Late Cretaceous
Its most distinctive feature is the long, curved crest extending from the back of the head, which is thought to have been more than 1 meter long. The crest was once thought to function like a snorkel for breathing while swimming underwater, but it is now interpreted in various ways, including as an apparatus for producing specialized calls, a structure related to an enhanced sense of smell, or a feature used to distinguish between species.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Parasaurolophus, distinguished by the long crest that curves backward from its head, has joined the Vinyl Model series. Mr. Araki, what are your impressions of this dinosaur?
- Among the duck-billed dinosaurs, Parasaurolophus is one of my favorites.
Its distinctive crest is elegant and flowing, making it one of the most beautiful dinosaur forms. I like to think of it as the “lady” of the dinosaur world (although males existed too, of course) (laughs). - Parasaurolophus has already been released as a Soft Model under Mr. Araki’s supervision. Are there any differences between that version and this Vinyl Model?
- The Soft Model included a membrane beneath the long crest at the back of the head, but this feature is absent from many recent reconstructions, so I omitted it this time.
I liked the way Parasaurolophus was depicted in Disney’s Fantasia, where that membrane was shown. - The Parasaurolophus Vinyl Model has a subdued brown base color, accented by the yellow crest. What inspired this choice?
- As with the other models, I chose a color scheme and pattern that would not overlap too much with other dinosaurs in the Vinyl Model lineup. The crest may have been used for visual communication or display among its own species, so I gave it a conspicuous color.
- Finally,Parasaurolophus About the Vinyl ModelPlease share your comments.。
- Among the many duck-billed dinosaurs with different kinds of crests, Parasaurolophus is the most beautiful in my opinion.
Even Parasaurolophus would have seen Tyrannosaurus as a predator. Collect several and create a herd to protect them from carnivorous dinosaurs!
