Classification: Saurischia/Theropoda/Deinocheiridae
Size: Total length 11 meters
Period: Late Cretaceous
A large dinosaur that lived in southern Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous. In 1965, enormous forelimbs measuring 2.4 m were discovered in the Gobi Desert, but only a few bone fragments were found elsewhere, leaving its appearance a mystery for nearly half a century. Later discoveries of nearly complete skeletons clarified its anatomy. Its head, about 1 m long, had a keratinous beak. Numerous gastroliths and fish bones and scales were found near its abdomen, suggesting an omnivorous diet. Its broad pelvis and short, thick hind limbs indicate it was built more for stability than running.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- Deinocheirus, known from the NHK program Dinosaur Superworld and dinosaur exhibitions, has joined the Vinyl Model series. Mr. Araki, what are your impressions of Deinocheirus?
- Today’s children are quite familiar with Deinocheirus, but when I was young, it was a mysterious dinosaur known only from its forelimbs.
Recent fossil discoveries have gradually revealed its true appearance. Although I had known the name for a long time, I approached the model as if I were learning about this dinosaur for the first time. - Deinocheirus
- Many bipedal dinosaur Vinyl Models are designed to stand on their hind legs and tail. For Deinocheirus, I designed it to stand with both its hind feet and foreclaws touching the ground, capturing its distinctive posture and body shape.

Of course, it may have had brighter colors. If a Paint Model is released, it could be fun to paint it in your own preferred colors. - Finally, Deinocheirus About the Vinyl ModelPlease share your comments.。
- Deinocheirus is a newly understood dinosaur, and even I find it difficult to imagine exactly what it was like. What kind of image do you have of it?
Pick up the Vinyl Model and imagine what kind of life this dinosaur might have led.
