A small pterosaur that lived during the Early Jurassic. Its large head had a beak lined with two types of teeth—large and small—which inspired its name. Jaw shape, tooth analysis, and its limited flying ability suggest it may have preyed on fish, insects, and small vertebrates. Although its wings were small for a pterosaur, its limbs were well developed. It may have climbed to high places and used its claws to cling to trees or cliffs before gliding down onto prey.

- Dimorphodon has joined the pterosaur lineup in the Vinyl Model series. Mr. Araki, what are your impressions of Dimorphodon?
- Among pterosaurs, many have long, slender beaks, but Dimorphodon’s stocky, dinosaur-like head gives it a distinctive look. It reminds me a little of a small dragon.

- Its distinctive head has teeth that interlock between the upper and lower jaws. This arrangement may have helped it quickly seize insects and small animals in flight.
Another distinctive feature is its long tail, which is absent in pterosaurs such as Pteranodon. The diamond-shaped vane at the tip is thought to have helped it maintain balance during flight. - Dimorphodon
