Palm-sized Dinosaur Figures
A PVC Mini Figure of Pteranodon, a ruler of the skies during the Cretaceous. Its compact size makes it easy to display on a desk or shelf. An information card is included.
Pteranodon
Classification: Pterosauria/Pterodactyloidea/Pteranodontidae
Size: Wingspan 7 meters
Period: Late Cretaceous
One of the best-known pterosaurs and the first pterosaur discovered in North America. The rear of its head, corresponding roughly to the human forehead, extended backward into a long crest, and its skull could reach 1.8 meters in length. Two forms, longicephalus and sternbergi, have been recognized based on crest shape. It is thought to have ridden rising air currents and glided like a sailplane.
Interview with Supervisor Kazunari Araki
- The Dinosaur Mini Models are highly detailed, palm-sized figures. What are your impressions of these small figures?
- Large models and desktop models have a strong presence and intricate details, but displaying many of them requires space. The advantage of mini figures is that they can be displayed on part of a bookshelf or in a corner of a desk, making them ideal for collecting. Because the models are small and cannot accommodate highly intricate details, they are sculpted so that the distinctive features of each dinosaur can be recognized at a glance.
- The lineup has expanded from the five dinosaurs previously sold as Dinosaur Key Rings to nine species, with four newly sculpted species added. Could you tell us about the sculpting and painting concepts for the four new species?
- Tyrannosaurus is depicted with the latest feathered interpretation. Rather than an aquatic Spinosaurus, I deliberately chose a cool terrestrial style. Ankylosaurus has a small but powerful and substantial appearance, while Pteranodon is sculpted with the image of soaring leisurely through the sky. The colors are based on the image associated with each dinosaur, while ensuring that each one stands apart from the other lineup items.
- As a palm-sized figure series, these models can be easily displayed anywhere and enjoyed in a variety of settings. Do you have any recommended display methods or presentation ideas?
- The Dinosaur Mini Models are small and take up little space, so they can be placed in empty spaces on bookshelves, around a desk or computer, or used as accents among indoor potted plants. It could also be fun to create miniature dioramas using the Mini Models.
- Finally, could you share your comments on this model?
- The Dinosaur Mini Models are small yet detailed and cool. Collect many of them, play with them, and display your favorites wherever you like.
