Interview with Kazunari Araki

This will be the first Dinosaur Vinyl model of a sea-dwelling Emirati dragon. Please tell us about the concept behind the modeling and coloring.

I basically enlarged my soft model, but I was able to express the interlocking upper and lower teeth, which was not possible with the soft model. Since it's a marine creature, I made its back the color of the sea and its ventral side the color of a bright sea surface.

Plesiosaurs are generally considered to be the most famous dinosaurs, but what is your image of them?

Plesiosaurs and other arachnosaurs are very familiar to me because fossils of the Diptera have been found in Japan since early times.

When I was a child, I really thought that Nessie of Loch Ness was a plesiosaur survivor (lol).

Were there any particular points that you paid attention to or were aware of when creating the plesiosaur?

Plesiosaurs and other wedge-tailed dragons have a style that is completely unlike any other creature alive today, so I created the wrinkles on the neck and the muscles in the fins while imagining how they would have lived and moved.

What are the highlights of this model and what do you think of it?

The long neck and fins are vinyl models, so you can move them freely and play with them! Your room will be a Jurassic sea!
