Event Report: Special Exhibition "The Great Extinction Exhibition - The Big Five of Life History"
From Saturday, November 1, 2025, we will be introducing the Special Exhibition "The Great Extinction Exhibition: The Big Five of Life History" held at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno Park, Tokyo, including our impressions from visiting the exhibition.
This special exhibition is structured into five episodes plus one, with each episode explaining "extinction" and "evolution," making it an enjoyable exhibition for children and adults alike.

After viewing the prologue and entering the main hall, you are greeted by a large Earth...
As time passes, changes appear. What do these changes signify?

For a detailed look at the five episodes, we highly recommend visiting the exhibition in person.
Here, we will give you a small preview of the exhibits in each episode.

In [EPISODE 1] and [EPISODE 2], you can see creatures familiar from Favorite's Prehistoric Series, such as Dunkleosteus, Hallucigenia, and Canadaspis. There are also exhibits of the famous sea scorpion, Actiramus, known for its size and distinctive claws.

In [EPISODE 3] and [EPISODE 4], Dimetrodon and Cryolophosaurus are displayed as full skeletons.
[EPISODE 5] explains the end of the Mesozoic era due to a meteorite impact.

In the bonus [EPISODE 6], there is an exhibition of the world's oldest complete fossil of Steller's sea cow. There are also reconstructed drawings, which you can view quite closely.
You can also see exhibits on the evolution of the horse family, among other things.

Finally, let's introduce the special exhibition shop.
There are many limited-edition items for the special exhibition, and of course, exhibition catalogs are also available.
The Favorite products sold at the special exhibition include stuffed models. There are also new mini mascots, so please take a look when you visit.
Additionally, the museum's permanent shop carries a wide range of Favorite products, so please check that out if you have time.
