Long before the birth of humankind, dinosaurs ruled the Earth. With the discovery of fossils in the 19th century, they became generally known through reconstructed images. Since then, we have been fascinated by these ancient creatures, letting our imaginations soar from fossil traces to create a lost world primarily through paintings. While conventional dinosaur exhibitions focus on fossils, this exhibition invites you into the romantic world of "paleoart," filled with an endless yearning for antiquity. Approximately 150 works from around the world are gathered, covering the history of our perception of ancient creatures, from mythical beasts before the discovery of dinosaurs to strange 19th-century reconstructions, dynamic 20th-century works, subcultures, and paleoart based on recent research.
Sometimes strange, sometimes ferocious, sometimes majestic—enjoy an imaginative journey into the endlessly expanding lost world within these paintings.
