In 2018, a research team centered around the Tokushima Prefectural Museum discovered one of Japan's oldest dinosaur fossil-bearing layers (bonebed) in Katsuura Town, Tokushima Prefecture. This discovery was spearheaded by the first dinosaur fossil found in Shikoku, discovered in the same town in 1994. The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the discovery of the first dinosaur fossil in Shikoku. This exhibition will display over 100 precious fossils, including dinosaur and other fossils excavated by the Tokushima Prefectural Museum in Katsuura Town, as well as fossils discovered from dinosaur-era strata both in Japan and abroad.
