"Dinosaur Paint Model" 18th Paint Contest Results Announcement
The Dinosaur Paint Model allows you to create your own original dinosaur by painting it with your free imagination. This was the first contest using the newly designed paint models, and we received many entries from everyone. Thank you very much.
This time, there were many entries from parents and children who challenged themselves to paint, as well as entries painted by girls, not just boys. Also, in addition to popular Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops entries, there were many entries of Giganotosaurus and Mosasaurus, which appeared in a movie released this summer, reminding us again of the diverse popularity of dinosaurs.
Now, we will announce the winning entries selected by the Favorite staff from the many submissions!

I dyed a uniquely shaped Stegosaurus in a flashy tie-dye pattern! I was particularly particular about the gradient on its back, which is the most distinctive feature of the Stegosaurus, changing from warm to cool colors. Since there is a theory that these plates regulated body temperature, I represented the change in temperature with colors. The glitter is also a key point to add more flashiness!
Staff Comments
A work that expresses the temperature changes in the body with a tie-dye pattern, as if seen through a thermal imager.
We praised the way the changes in surface temperature were painted as a pattern without any sense of incongruity.
It's a work that also matches well with the background beach.

My 6-year-old son, who loves dinosaurs, made it with his dad!
Staff Comments
This work was a challenge by a parent and child. The powerful Giganotosaurus has been completed with carnivorous dinosaur-like expressions around its mouth and even the base painted.

I went to a dinosaur art exhibition. My older sister enjoyed it more than my younger brother, who loves dinosaurs, and we bought this Tyrannosaurus to take home. She was able to color it diligently and carefully.
Staff Comments
The brightly colored Tyrannosaurus gives a pop and cute impression. The sight of the mini-model Tyrannosaurus looking down is very powerful.

My dinosaur-loving son and I went to the Fukui Dinosaur Museum on our summer trip and brought home a Triceratops as a souvenir. He was torn between using realistic colors from a picture book or combining his favorite blue with camouflage. He created it with his beloved grandpa, subtly incorporating "asa" on the left side of the body and "to" on the right for originality.
Staff Comments
This is an interesting work painted with the free spirit characteristic of a paint model. The letter patterns are also well expressed.

This is my second work, following the Tyrannosaurus.
For my second work, I wanted to create a diorama, so I made it with a box I had at home.
My child was deliberating which side of the Spinosaurus, shown in the photo, to submit, as the opposite side had completely different colors.
It was a very good experience.
Thank you very much!
If I find the time again, I will challenge myself with a Mosasaurus.
Staff Comments
This is a masterpiece where the coloring of the Spinosaurus matches the background very well. We would love to see the other side that you agonized over.

Araki's original sculpture is meticulously detailed. The depiction of the Jacobson's organ in the oral cavity, which is the tongue, is particularly impressive. Its presence complements the realism that Mosasaurus is a reptile, not a dinosaur. It's a model you never tire of looking at. This time, I created a diorama base with the setting of the shallow seabed of East Asia. Also, it has ball joints, so you can change the angle freely.
Staff Comments
This Mosasaurus piece, including its diorama base, is incredibly powerful. The idea of being able to change its angle with ball joints is brilliant.

Because I also love pandas,
I made its face like a panda.
Pandas eat bamboo,
so I made its face green like grass.
I made its body real-like colors,
and since I like stars and hearts, I drew them.
Staff Comments
This is a wonderful piece where favorite things are painted onto a Triceratops.
The stars and heart patterns painted on the realistic body act as accents, resulting in a gentle finish.

I painted it with my dad. The Pteranodon and Quetzalcoatlus are flying happily in the vast sky.
Staff Comments
The pterosaurs painted by the parent and child seem to be flying together, even though they are different species.
The way the patterns were applied and the colors divided convey that they thought about and painted it together.

My daughter, a first-grader, recently became interested in dinosaurs due to her younger brother (preschooler), who loves dinosaurs.
My daughter wanted cute dinosaur goods, so she used her favorite pink and purple colors and painted the spikes on its back to resemble flowers.
She seems satisfied with her cute dinosaur.
She's eager to paint it in rainbow colors or even cuter pink next time.
Staff Comments
A Stegosaurus painted in cute colors. The plates on its back, with their bright colors and outlines, serve as nice accents.
Thank you for your many entries.
