The Dinosaur Paint Model allows you to paint freely and complete your very own original dinosaur. Thank you for the many submissions to our 20th Paint Contest.

This being our momentous 20th paint contest, we received a record number of entries, which made all of our staff very happy. From small children to adults, every entry was a masterpiece. We hope that through painting, this contest can be an opportunity to foster a spirit of inquiry and curiosity.

I paid close attention to the blue lines and patterns,
especially the pupils of the eyes.
I took a photo of the Giganotosaurus protecting its egg.

Staff Comment

This Giganotosaurus is well-balanced, with a blue base color and matching shades.
The green and black pattern accents are very effective, giving it a polished look.
Upon closer inspection, the patterns seem to tell a story.

I aimed for a Giganotosaurus that looked dangerous and ferocious.
Using black and red, I created a flashy yet realistic impression that such a creature might have existed.
I varied the color of each individual scale slightly. The base is also designed to be a small diorama to create a sense of realism.

Staff Comment

The combination of sculpting and coloring results in a scary Giganotosaurus that you wouldn't want to encounter.
It exudes an impressive, sophisticated atmosphere.
The finely painted head and patterns show great attention to detail.

 

SHAW

I finished everything with a brush. To match the swimming version, I painted it with the scene in mind of a Spinosaurus diving underwater to pursue its prey. I hope the shimmering water I painted on its body comes across. Also, because the muscle sculpting was beautiful, I tried to bring out its undulations. It was a very fun model to paint, and the brush just kept going.

A work that expresses a passion for Spinosaurus through painting.
The water-inspired pattern acts as an accent, creating a cool finish.
It's a powerful depiction that even allows one to imagine the prey in front of it.

I'm a 5-year-old girl!

I drew a sketch to expand my imagination
and worked hard mixing various colors to paint!

Staff Comment

A colorful and cute Diplodocus was created, with a blue, red, and black base accented by a polka dot pattern. It's nice how the pattern's coloring changes with each base color.
This piece, characteristic of a paint model, truly reflects a girl's touch.

 

Azuki Arai

I made the left and right sides different designs. The side in the photo expresses the inside of the sea with patterns.

An impressive work depicting the inside of the sea on the distinctive sail of the Spinosaurus.
The background water creates a fun atmosphere.
Since the left and right designs are different, we're curious about the other side.

I put effort into recreating the white fur on the back and the slightly bloody teeth.

I live in Nagasaki, and there's a kite there called Hata, which has beautiful patterns. I thought it would be nice if a pterosaur had these patterns, so I made this design.

A collaboration of two things that soar through the sky!
This pterosaur, inspired by the "Nagasaki Hata" kite, a traditional craft from Nagasaki, was born from the free imagination characteristic of a paint model.

“Monetsaurus”

A dinosaur that lives in water… Mosasaurus… Mosa… Monet! It just came to me.
I painted a water lily picture on the Mosasaurus as a canvas, and intentionally didn't draw flowers inside the frame.
I dabbed the fine details with a toothpick.
It was fun!

This humorous piece features a dinosaur as a canvas, blending into a painting.
It also looks like a camouflage pattern, allowing it to hide from enemies.
The idea is brilliant, and the finished work is very interesting.

I used a sponge to paint it for a realistic look.

By innovating with painting tools, multiple layers of yellow applied with a sponge create a deeply realistic texture. The expressive method, impossible with just a brush, is truly impressive.
