Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium
Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, boasting Japan's largest total floor area and one of the world's largest outdoor tanks, is a highly popular spot and a landmark aquarium representing Aichi Prefecture. Located at Nagoya Port Garden Pier in Minato Ward, Nagoya City, the aquarium is surrounded by a wealth of other enjoyable facilities. This time, I visited the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium and encountered a diverse array of mysterious marine life.
《Nagoya Port Garden Pier》
Located at Nagoya Port Garden Pier in Minato Ward, Nagoya City, the area offers a wealth of other enjoyable facilities besides the aquarium, such as the "Antarctic Research Ship Fuji," the "Nagoya Maritime Museum," and "JETTY" where you can enjoy dining and shopping.

Among them, the "Antarctic Research Ship Fuji" stands out with its long history and striking orange color.
《Creatures Familiar from Favorite》
I was able to see many marine creatures that Favorite has turned into figures, including orcas, bottlenose dolphins, Pacific white-sided dolphins, belugas, spotted eagle rays, green sea turtles, Gentoo penguins, and African penguins.

《Events》
There are plenty of events, including sardine tornadoes and dolphin performances. Since I visited in October, "Halloween Aquarium 2017" was held with a Halloween theme. The aquarium was decorated for Halloween, Halloween divers appeared, and you could see fish that looked like they were in costume.

《Not a Costume》
You might think it's a Halloween costume, but it's actually an old diving suit. It's quite startling.
《Skeletal Specimens: Sea of Evolution》
In the "Sea of Evolution" in the North Building, you can see real skeletal specimens. The scale is as astonishing as a dinosaur museum.
《Various Skeletons》
From extant marine creatures to those that lived in ancient times, you can learn about the evolution of marine life from their skeletons.

《Favorite Figures for Sale》
After being impressed by the magnificent marine creatures, the next enjoyment is, of course, souvenirs. The Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium Museum Shop sells a wide range of goods, including Favorite figures, snacks, accessories, and plush toys.
One of Favorite's features, "realistic detail," makes these figures authentic and perfect for those who want to learn more about the marine creatures that pique their interest.
Please pick one up when you see them. We hope you can experience the fascinating world of marine creatures through these figures.
Here are the items that were on sale this time.
*Please note that stock availability changes daily.*

Vinyl Models
These figures have a soft touch and a voluminous feel, with shapes and colors that faithfully represent the characteristics of the creatures while being stylized.
Soft Models
These are authentic and affordable figures that precisely reproduce the shape, color, and other characteristics of creatures, using safe materials.
Straps
These are mobile phone straps with mini figures of marine creatures. They have a carabiner clip, so you can also use them as zipper mascots for bags and wallets. They also include a plug to attach to your smartphone's earphone jack.
Mini Models
These are palm-sized figures with intricate details and realistic painting. They are part of the ancient creature series that lived in the ancient seas of the Cambrian period.
《A word from the museum shop staff》
When I asked them a few questions, they told me, "The orca vinyl model and the great white shark vinyl model are very popular." Regarding their impression of Favorite's figures, they said, "Since they are realistic figures, they are widely accepted by both children and adults." The staff also mentioned, "Even the whale shark, which is not present at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, is surprisingly popular."
