Let's Paint: Seasonal Bonito

Freshly caught, delicious-looking seasonal bonito were landed.
With that image in mind, I tried painting a bluefin tuna figure in a bonito style.

The fish silhouettes are quite similar, so I represented the characteristics of bonito with horizontal stripes on the belly.

As autumn arrives, bonito swimming south are called "modori-gatsuo" (returning bonito). They are rich in fat and very delicious, and are sure to appear frequently at the dinner table.
