[Interview with supervisor Kazunari Araki]

--The Parasaurolophus, characterized by its crest extending curved from the back of its head, has joined the vinyl model lineup. What is your impression of Parasaurolophus, Mr. Araki?

Among hadrosaurid dinosaurs, Parasaurolophus is one of my favorites. Its unique crest is elegant and flowing, and it has the most beautiful form of any dinosaur. I personally think of it as the royalty of the dinosaur world (even though there are males, of course, haha).

--Parasaurolophus has been released as a soft model in the Favorite products supervised by Mr. Araki. Are there any differences with this vinyl model?

The membrane under the extended crest at the back of the head, which was included in the soft model, has been omitted this time as it is not commonly seen in recent reconstructions. I liked how it was depicted in the Disney movie "Fantasia," though.

--The coloring of the Parasaurolophus vinyl model has a calm impression with a brown base, accented by the yellow of the crest. What image was this based on?

My answer is always the same for this question: I try to make sure the coloring and patterns don't overlap too much with other dinosaurs in the vinyl model lineup. For the crest, I chose a prominent color because this part might have been used for visual communication and display among its peers.

--Finally, please share your comments on the Parasaurolophus vinyl model.

Among the many types and shapes of crested hadrosaurid dinosaurs, I believe Parasaurolophus is the most beautiful. However, even such a beautiful Parasaurolophus is only seen as prey by Tyrannosaurus, so collect many of them and protect them from carnivorous dinosaurs in a herd!
